This sequel gives us a very substantial essence of art direction that Blizzard designers have on the universe of Starcraft, and outstanding animations have given a great sequel that despite not being as balanced when it went on sale give us a solid product and very rich in concepts and universes that surround it. If you do not believe me, watch this video of the intro of the game:
Tip: See it in 1080p for a more awesome video
I think it's time to talk about the book I want to show art to begin with the book is a good size, has a thickness sufficient to maintain the fixed pages and especially the quality of the images is outstanding. The book has 176 pages divided into factions that fight being Terrans, Protoss and Zergs also scenarios and story elements as well as the cinematic images shown throughout the campaign as information of the characters and concept illustrations of places of interest. Considering that the images shown have some degree of spoilers if you have not finished the campaign of Starcraft II but I still think they did a good job of not showing much spoiler in the art book.
For those who wish to listen music while you read the post, I leave this below:
As mentioned above, this art book is divided into one of three factions and scenarios, so we'll start with my personal favorite to play: The Terrans. Humans in space are the most balanced of all three factions and my recommendation for those who are starting in the game but with experience can be used very good strategies, the book tells us that the terrans are the junkyards dogs of the Starcraft universe; characterized by bulky, rusty, hard-edged designs and predilection for bullets, bombs, and missiles, terrans have their stylistic roots firmly in the modern military-and-industrial look.

The second species in the Starcraft universe are: The Protoss. Which are to me the more advanced skills required to play it concisely what each unit does and use resources carefully. The book tells a bit about these creatures wich are high-tech and have the kind of sleek curves and fluid grace usually reserved for italian sports cars and supermodels. Protoss weaponary is all about energy-based blasts and beams, and even protoss' psiconic powers have bright geometric effects.
A pretty good illustration of a conceptual art |

A dual blade protoss which is pretty badass |
That is an astounding illustration of their battleships |
The Zerg odious creatures that attack in groups and not leave you to fight back and then they're bothering with the tiny larvae again and again (yes, I get very upset in the online game), the art book gives us a little info on these unfriendly creatures: that has a profusion of teeth, claws, fangs, stingers, and blades. The chaotic jumble of creatures and body shapes you see at first glance is carefully orchestrated: the smaller, more numerous besties have simple designs that read well in crowd, while the larger organisms are far more individualistic.

I have to admit that this illustration is fantastic |
Environments are a very important part in Starcraft because it is where the fight takes place and above all is the centerpiece level design that has the game, and the art that comes with it. The book tells us that the art be moving planet makes scenarios have a unique look and feel. The sci-fi atmosphere is heightened by showing lots of handmade (or alien-made) features in the environments, on cliffs in particular.

And we arrived at the end of the post, just wanted to remind you that to get this art book is a bit more complicated because it sold it by the collector's edition of Starcraft ll therefore could not tell you exactly where to get it, they can try on ebay or in any local store that still sells this edition which I highly recommend. I can only thank you for reading the entire post and reach the end, Well see you in a next post.
The end |
